Jon Kranz
Jon Kranz grew up in Washington D.C. through the 70s and 80s listening to punk rock, opera and show tunes. He started broadcasting in high school, voicing the morning announcements over the P.A. system.
In college, Jon became a regular voice on 88.9 FM WERS, the radio station of Emerson College in Boston. While there, Jon hosted the folk program "Coffeehouse", the jazz fusion program "Fusebox" and the 'Metrowave' - a showcase for rising talent in the then-dubbed Alternative Rock movement. 'Metrowave' featured first-time live radio performances of The Pixies, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Throwing Muses and others.
Jon currently works on the web, overseeing the development of new products for an online classifieds business. Prior to that Jon was an online news producer. Over the last 12 years, Jon's news work, along with the work of his teams, won 5 Digital Edge awards and 1 Emmy. Prior to the web, Jon was a broadcast journalist for several years. His work has
been seen and heard nationwide on CNN, CBS radio, NPR, and AOL.
Jon is a graduate of Emerson College's School of Mass Communication. He lives in Virginia with his wife, Kim and his two boxers -- Samantha and Chloe.
He can be heard on 89.5 WHRV-FM Fridays from 10pm-Midnight with Gyroscope with Jon Kranz.
