E-LEARNING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
Position Summary: WHRO has an opening for an E-Learning Support Technician. The E-Learning Support Tech role provides technical support services for projects, products, and applications across the enterprise with an emphasis on the hosted distance learning packages we support. This position monitors and initiates the daily workflow of helpdesk, ensures a high level of customer service; loads and maintains courses, and user accounts in course management software; perform regularly scheduled testing and review of products/applications; monitors servers on an on-call basis; maintains and monitors the application/system security;; and maintains the web presence of the online learning portal. Dealing with clients will be required on a daily basis, so strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Position Requirements: This position requires demonstrated experience in customer service and technical troubleshooting preferably with an online learning application, as well as desired knowledge in a variety of fields as outlined. Hardware: PC, Mac, computer peripherals, and networking equipment; OS: Windows and Mac; Software: Desire 2 Learn, Elluminate, Microsoft products, and web browser platforms. WHRO, in Norfolk, Virginia, was recently awarded an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Enhancing Education Through Technology (ARRA E2T2) grant to engage in a variety of educational technology product development and services including the completion of a number of online, K-12, student courses for an existing regional virtual school. The grant runs from January 2010 through September 30, 2011. To assist us in the completion of the online courses we are seeking to immediately fill the following full-time positions:

WHRO INTERNSHIP PROGRAM- WHRO offers an internship program to juniors and seniors enrolled in a college or similar curriculum to which the internship applies. The purpose is to allow qualified and interested students an opportunity to gain practical experience in a career setting. These experiences can allow students to combine their educational pursuits with day-to-day operations of the communications and broadcasting industry. While some internships can be used for college credit, it is not mandatory.
Individuals may apply in the same way they would apply for a job. An internship application, resume and cover letter are required. The appropriate department head to determine eligibility for the internship will then interview the individuals.
