4.5 CEUs / 3 graduate credits - The course will consist of an introduction to Project-Based Learning (PBL), associated terminology, computer-based technologies and resources that can be used to support the PBL approach to curriculum. The course will define a general problem-solving process that participants will employ in working with the curriculum. Strategies for utilizing the Internet and other technology-based resources in instruction and ethical / managerial issues associated with using PBL and computer technology with students will be explored. Students will learn to employ search techniques to locate information that will assist them in their study and presentation of Project-Based Learning. Participants will employ a variety of methods to prepare and present lessons using the Project-Based Learning approach.

Activities will center on the Virginia Department of Education Computer/Technology Standards of Learning for students as well as Technology Standards For Instructional Personnel (TSIP). Topics include: school computer networking-hardware configuration and administration; curricular integration of computer peripheral devices, word processing, advanced page layout, multimedia presentation, spreadsheets, databases, the use of the Internet, and HTML (Homepage) document development. You may receive three graduate credits (letter grade received) at the completion of this course. You may choose to take this course for 4.5 CEUs for $250.00 for a pass/fail grade. In addition to the graduate classes being offered, we are now offering two Certification Courses. Technology Standards For Instructional Personnel (TSIP) Certification Course and Internet Certification Course, in which you can earn 4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU's) through Old Dominion University. You may take any of these graduate classes for CEU hours at $250 for C.I.I. Members and receive a pass/fail grade. Please note when you register if you intend to take the course for CEU's instead of graduate credit.

Computer Requirements: Requires a computer that's connected to the Internet, a current version of a Web browser, a handful of plug-ins, and the application programs being taught (Microsoft Office is being taught, but could take the class with almost any database, word processor, slideshow/presentation, or spreadsheet program).
Description: TSIP Anywhere Anytime is a six-week online course that is an online adaptation of the ever popular Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel (TSIP) Certification course that has been offered for years as a face-to-face class through the C.I.I. The purpose of this course is designed to assist Virginia Educators in exploring and developing expertise with the various aspects of telecommunications tools as well as model the ways in which these tools can be used for personal learning and for integration into the teaching/learning process. This course will focus on six main areas: beginning Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and beginning Internet.

4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a pass/fail grade will be issued from Old Dominion University upon successfully completing the online course.
